It is snowing in Albuquerque today.

It really is snowing here!  This in turn reminded me of this photo that I took on a roadtrip with my friend, Ben, and my brother, Eber.  Silverton was the end of a multi-hour detour, though we had nowhere specific to go in truth.  That said, I guess it isn’t a surprise to everyone that it might be snowing in Albuquerque, but I was wearing a tee-shirt yesterday.  It was hot in Roswell when I was last there as well, which was only this past weekend.  Perhaps the heavens are spilling frozen tears for the Yankee loss last night.

Anyway, I’m starting my website anew, although for the first several posts, I do plan to use photos from my series on the American Southwest/Mexico, maybe other photos…  I think this works well.  First of all, I want to get them up here, mostly so I have them saved somewhere.  Secondly, while I’m in Albuquerque, studying for the LSAT, I won’t have a ton of time to write or take photographs.  Thirdly, but not lastly, I do want to get the ball rolling on an improved website and blog, and this will get me to start it up.  My website, before, was too difficult and time consuming to update and “revelinvietnam” wasn’t encompassing enough to envision revel not in Vietnam.  Though I do plan to go back to Hanoi soon, I would like my website to grow with me, do as I do and reflect all the possibility to come.

This revelatkinson.com is easier, newer and I hope, in the end, even better! ^.^

I’m just resuming the blog, but for now Revel In Vietnam. is still up. Even though I’m no longer there, feel free to check it out if you haven’t or reminisce with it if you have…

I also haven’t taken down the old revelatkinson.com if you wanted to look it over one last time…

Hey revcakez. Glad to see you’re working on something online again. It always brightens my day to check out what you’re up to. Great picture and I’m surprised about the snow in NM!

i think you should keep the old site with the photos (and add more photos to it) as a section of your new site. your viewing public comes to see photos, old and new, as well as to read your lyrical musings and to register complaints.

Keeping the old site as a linked section from this site was a serious consideration that I had; however, I ultimately decided against it. These are the reasons why: (a) This site has the advantage of php that my old site didn’t have. This means that I can update photos, which includes adding them, with far more ease and without having to write up a new page in html. The difficulties I faced in updating my website in Vietnam ultimately led me to a blog-format and resulted in me not updating the old revelatkinson.com for over a year. (b) I always had one concern with my last website regarding photos as well. Although I like the stylistic element of having a full-page photo, I hate that both the quality and the proportions become so distorted as a result. In many ways, for showing photography, I think this website my offer more than the last. It has higher quality, fixed images. (c) Also, from a non-technical point-of-view, this website offers me a bit more flexibility. When I have pictures I can post them, when I have text I can post it and the spacing makes the updates a bit more regular. Often when I travel I take many more photographs and when I’m settled I tend to write more and take fewer pictures. If both projects were independent from each other, each website would face significant periods of non-activity. (d) Lastly, I am already starting to value the comment system, as I thought I might, and I would like to see comments reflect both my silly writings as well as my photography.
